I paid, but typed the wrong licence plate
The most common reason a violation notice is issued to a paying customer is a plate mismatch. The parking apps and pay stations register the plate you type, not the car you are sitting in. If the plate in the app does not match the plate on the vehicle, our patrol sees an unregistered vehicle.
The usual causes
- An old vehicle left as the default in the app, so the session went on a car you no longer drive.
- A partner's, parent's or rental plate selected by mistake.
- The letter O typed instead of the number 0, or the letter I instead of the number 1. Plates generally do not use the letters O or I, so enter the number 0 and the number 1.
- A missed or extra character.
What to do
- Find your receipt or the session in your app history. It shows the plate the payment was registered to.
- Submit an appeal within 10 days of the notice at whistlerparking.com. Attach the receipt and say which plate you meant to enter.
- We will compare the payment against the notice and check to see if the other plate was present in the lot.
Avoid it next time
- Before you confirm a session, read the plate on the screen against the plate on the car.
- Delete old vehicles from your app the day you change cars.
- On the pay station, check the plate on the printed receipt before you walk away.
